Q1 2026 Quarterly Report | January–March 2026
OJALÁ NIÑOS - LITTLE THINGS MATTER
A Season of Growth, Creativity & Community
The first quarter of 2026 was a meaningful season of growth, creativity, and renewed momentum for Little Things Matter Foundation and Las Pequeñas Cosas Importan.
Through education, STEAM learning, sports, arts, cultural enrichment, and community support, children and teens strengthened essential academic, creative, and social skills while deepening their connection to their community and cultural identity.
With new leadership guiding our educational programs at Ojalá Niños in San Miguel Viejo, we are moving forward with a clear focus on long-term impact, organizational sustainability, and expanded opportunities for the children and families we serve.
📊 Q1 AT A GLANCE

🌱 NEW LEADERSHIP & PROGRAMS
Q1 also marked an important transition for Ojalá Niños with the arrival of Athaliah Cantú as Executive Director and Marcy Marrero as Director of Education.

Their leadership strengthens our educational strategy, organizational development, and long-term vision.
Athaliah brings extensive experience in administration, logistics, and community-centered leadership. Marcy contributes more than 10 years of experience in STEAM, robotics, and innovative education for children and youth.
During the quarter, we also launched new initiatives, including STEAM and robotics learning, community-based workshops, and the Mojigangas cultural project.
Through this project, children designed and built traditional oversized papier-mâché figures used in Mexican celebrations and parades. The project concluded with a community procession celebrating creativity, teamwork, and cultural identity.

💗 COMMUNITY EVENTS
Community celebrations created opportunities for families to connect, participate, and celebrate together.
During the quarter, we held:
Three Kings’ Day celebration with gifts and a community gathering
Día de la Candelaria with donated tamales for families
Valentine’s Day rally with games, snacks, and cake
Women’s Health Day, providing free services to 12 women
Community Mojigangas parade led by students
💛 WELL-BEING & FAMILY SUPPORT
Our commitment to the community extends beyond education. We recognize that children thrive when their families are supported with care, compassion, and stability.
Heart Healing Trauma Workshop
In February, Little Things Matter Foundation hosted a Heart Healing Trauma Workshop in partnership with a women’s mission team from Fellowship Church Dallas and local volunteers from Antioch Community Church.
Rooted in trauma-informed and faith-centered care, the workshop provided a safe and compassionate space for women to process pain, share their stories, and receive encouragement through community and guided conversations focused on healing, resilience, and renewed purpose.

Supporting a Family in Crisis
During the quarter, our community came together to support Pilar and her family following the tragic fire that claimed the lives of her daughters, Karla and Aranza.
As the family begins the long process of rebuilding their home and navigating unimaginable grief, we continue providing practical support, encouragement, and compassionate care—offering hope and stability during one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.

🤝 PARTNERSHIPS & COLLABORATIONS
The continued support of generous donors, volunteers, and community partners strengthened our educational and community programs throughout the quarter.
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Miguel de Allende
Provided grant funding to expand access to computer literacy and educational opportunities for children and families.
El Manantial & Local Supporters
Donated tamales and atole for community gatherings, creating opportunities for hospitality, connection, and shared celebration among families.
CASA A.C.
Partnered with us for Women’s Health Day, providing free healthcare services to 12 women, including Pap smears, birth control implant removal, and rapid HIV testing.
⚽ KIDS & TEEN CLUBS
During the first quarter of 2026, our values-based programs in San Miguel Viejo continued creating meaningful connections and safe spaces for children and teens through weekly clubs.
Throughout the quarter, we welcomed new children and families, strengthened relationships, and supported the Heart Healing Workshop by providing activities for the children of participating mothers.
Teen participation slowed due to scheduling conflicts and other activities. This also provided an opportunity to reevaluate and strengthen our approach, including launching new outreach activities and moving Teen Club gatherings to Mondays to better serve local youth.
Looking ahead, our focus remains on building trust with families, fostering consistent engagement, and helping children and teens grow in character, confidence, and hope.
🎓 JÓVENES ADELANTE SCHOLARSHIP
The past year has been a season of personal growth, resilience, and transition for Rebecca Gonzalez as she approaches the final year of her university studies.
While navigating emotional challenges and uncertainty about the future, Rebecca has remained committed to her personal and academic goals, including her dream of earning a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in the United States.
Through independently enrolling in English courses and certification programs, she continues strengthening her academic language skills while embracing the challenges and opportunities that come with growth, learning, and preparing for the next stage of her life.
Through the sponsorship and support of Little Things Matter Foundation, Rebecca’s journey reflects our mission of creating opportunities through education and empowering students to pursue brighter futures and reach their full potential.
💙 LOOKING AHEAD
As we move into the next quarter, we remain committed to creating meaningful opportunities for children and families through education, community support, and programs that foster hope, growth, and lasting impact.
