Monthly Report - July 2024

July was filled with activities and special moments for the San Miguel Viejo community, with a total of 267 attendances at the various PCI workshops and 1 new enrollment. Below is a summary of the month’s highlights.

📚 Tutoring 📚

During this month, the children focused on reinforcing the topics covered throughout the trimester. We reviewed each subject to ensure they fully understood the concepts, allowing them to finish the school year successfully and start their summer vacation on a positive note.

🇬🇧 English 🇬🇧

Betty successfully kept the younger group engaged, motivating them to practice pronunciation of words previously learned in class. They also worked on introducing themselves and practiced asking each other’s names.

🗣️ Language 🗣️

Language therapy sessions focused on improving reading comprehension and attention, essential for developing linguistic and cognitive skills. Additionally, emphasis was placed on correct articulation to ensure clear and precise pronunciation, facilitating effective communication.

🎨 Art 🎨

Our volunteer Pau led various artistic activities with the children at the PCI. A highlight was an activity where the children represented themselves through drawings, including elements they consider part of their identity.

🎵 Choir 🎵

Choir classes have been a huge success. The children thoroughly enjoy singing with passion and joy, performing songs selected by Dani and themselves.

💎 Jewelry Making 💎

This workshop has seen a resurgence. The children are learning new jewelry-making techniques, using threads and beads of various colors and sizes, and mastering intricate knotting. All of this is guided by Sol, a new member of the San Miguel Viejo community.

🧵 Sewing 🧵

The PCI mothers continued with their assigned projects. Under the coordination of Laura, the group is so well-organized that everyone has an active role and assigned work.

👕 Textile Painting 👕

The textile painting workshop with the mothers continues to be a great success. Each participant enjoys and learns in every class, eagerly choosing designs, colors, and materials to work with.

🏡 PCI Visits 🏡

We had the pleasure of welcoming potential donors to our facilities. We showed them the work being done at the PCI, and the children performed a song that our founder, Elsmarie, composed several years ago.

🎬 Movie Afternoon 🎬

The kids enjoyed a rainy afternoon watching the movie "Ferdinand," accompanied by popcorn and Cheetos. It was a delightful time for everyone.

🏗️ Construction Site 🏗️

We completed the first phase of the PCI building construction. We thank "Little Things Matter" for sponsoring the 2024 summer camp "Come and See," where the children of the San Miguel Viejo community were hosts.

This July has been significant and enriching for everyone in the San Miguel Viejo community. We are grateful for the continued support and excited about what the coming months will bring.
