Help 100 Kids to Overcome Educational Lag Due to COVID-19

This year has been difficult for all of us. As the holidays approach, many families in México continue to face job loss and lack of access to education for their children due to the COVID-19 health emergency.

No matter the obstacles, Ojala Niños remains committed to provide educational opportunities that contribute to improve the living conditions of the children and their families in San Miguel Viejo, a rural community on the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende in Central Mexico—but we need your help.

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing lags in learning and increasing school dropouts, especially in the poorest areas where families must spend their days with their children trying to find food. Many of these children will not return to school as we begin to return to normal. The situation in San Miguel Viejo, is even more devastating since families do not have internet access to continue their children’s education and parents have lost income.

Ojala Niños offer the life-skills needed to prepare children to take their rightful place in the economic order, such as: sowing seeds in a garden and taking care of chickens to promote food self-sufficiency, learning digital skills, studying mathematics and English, encouraging reading and, promoting artistic expression, music and dance. These skills will contribute to their own development, the wellbeing of the community and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This December 1st, is #GivingTuesday a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world, and GlobalGiving is giving away one million dollars to nonprofits around the world and your contribution will help us unlock a greater share of those funds! There’s never been a better time to help San Miguel Viejo kids to overcome educational lag due to COVID. The more you give, the more we get! Tell your family and friends.

Mark your calendar or donate now!

Your donation will allow us to continue offering the place, the materials and the guidance, at no cost, to help San Miguel Viejo children to to overcome the educational lag and keep children interested in learning, an outdoor and with health safety measures, where they can freely explore and discover; share and learn with the proper guidance.
